UNITING IN WORSHIP AND PRAYER
In the book of Acts we read about the Apostle Peter saying:
"I really am learning that God doesn't show partiality to one group of
people over another. Rather, in every
nation, whoever worships him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”
(Acts 2:34-35 CEB) This truth was put to
verse by William A. Dunkerley, (aka John Oxenham) in 1908:
In Christ there is no East or West, In Him no South or North;
But one great fellowship of love Throughout the whole wide earth.
In Him shall true hearts everywhere Their high communion find;
His service is the golden cord, Close binding humankind.
Join hands, then, members of the faith, Whatever your race may be!
Who serves my Father as His child Is surely kin to me.
In Christ now meet both East and West, In Him meet North and South;
All Christly souls are one in Him Throughout the whole wide earth.
On Sunday, October 20 people
from various parts of the world who speak different languages will be united
through Jesus Christ, as members of First Baptist and Casa de Fe y Alabanza
(the Hispanic congregation that meets in our Parish House) join in
worship. The service will be held in
Fuller Hall on the 2nd floor of the Parish House (the brick building
next to our church building on Main St.).
The service will be bi-lingual - I will preach in English and Rev.
Ricardo Franco, pastor of Casa de Fe, will translate into Spanish. After the service, everyone is invited to
enjoy lunch together in Fuller Hall.
Casa de Fe will provide the majority of the food; we are asked to provide DESSERTS.
This annual event is always a
lively time of singing, praying, and celebrating our unity through Jesus
Christ. Plan to “join hands with members
of the faith” as we worship with our Hispanic sisters and brothers in the
Parish House for worship on October 20!
