BLANKET THE WORLD WITH LOVE
MOTHER’S DAY, MAY 12, 2013

This year on Mother’s Day, May 12, our members and friends will again have the opportunity to give a $5.00 gift to purchase a blanket in memory or honor of a loved one.
These “Gifts of Love”, which are sent to Church World Service,  will give comfort and warmth and something to hold on to along with the hope of a better tomorrow.

The terrible disasters of the past few years have displaced millions of people, their homes and jobs shattered, in areas all over the world and in the United States.  Church World Service, with longstanding programs throughout the world, responds very quickly when these events occur  From the earthquakes and resulting tsunamis to the terrible hurricane and flood damage in our own country in the past few years , this Christian organization has shipped over $1,500,000 in material assistance to affected areas.  This has included thousands of blankets to the needy. This is only one part of the overall response which includes recovery, relocation, spiritual and emotional care and reconstruction..

On the two Sundays before Mother’s Day, April 28 and May 5, giving forms and special Mother’s Day cards will be available after worship during social hour. What better way to honor a special someone or remember a dear loved one than to give such a needy item to another mother or family at their time of need?

For your convenience, an order form is included in this”Witness” and may be sent to the church office or given to Irene Hofmann no later than Tuesday, May 7, in order to be included on the special Honor Roll to be printed in the Mother’s Day Sunday bulletin and in the following newsletter..

Please help us “Blanket the World with Love” again this year.  Thank you in advance for your support of this very worthwhile program.
